Aquatint is an Intaglio etching technique. It involves the use of acid upon metal plates in order to create marks. It was commonly used by the artist Goya.

What kinds of coatings may be used on picture frame glass?

UV filters are the most common coatings. Others may be chosen because of their ability to be non-reflective and almost invisible under certain lighting conditions. These include Museum, Denglas, and Optium glass.

What is matting?

Matting is the use of a flat paper-based material in the framing of a picture. This is done for many reasons. Sometimes its purpose is purely decorative, for example. At other times, this is done in order to create space between glass and the surface of the picture. This aids in its preservation.
